Avalanche victim detector -
The Pro IPS from the brand Pieps is an avalanche victim detector (DVA), designed for mountain activities in risky terrain: off-piste, freeride, mountaineering, ski touring.
General information:
This device has a maximum range of 70 metres (search band width: 80 m). However, in the presence of interference signals, it will display a reduced band width: 20, 40, 60 metres. This DVA features a unique technology, the Interference Protection System, which adapts the signal to surrounding interference sources (metal box, phone, shovel...). This technology makes the DVA extremely efficient, even though it does not completely eliminate interference. The Pro IPS assists you in rescue: it shows you the distance, direction to follow, and the number of buried subjects. The audible search guidance helps you locate buried persons more easily. When the device automatically switches to SEND mode or detects the initial signal during a search situation, a vibration alerts the rescuer, allowing full concentration on the search. Its battery life in SEND mode is 800 hours with lithium batteries and 600 hours with alkaline batteries. The Pro IPS comes with its ergonomic and sturdy carrying pouch. It can be managed with the Pieps app.
Advanced features:
In case of interference, the device automatically uses the antenna with the strongest signal. The Ghost Signal Elimination feature removes all interference signals by automatically verifying that detected signals have indeed been emitted by DVAs. It also has a analog mode which can be used for advanced search strategies or demonstration purposes. The Pro IPS indicates deep burials from 2 metres.
Multi-victim mode:
In the event of multi-victim burial, the Pro IPS offers differentiated marking of victims. This avoids signal conflicts and improves efficiency. The Auto-Select function prevents you from scattering by automatically directing you to the strongest signal. With the victim marking function, the DVA indicates the distance and direction to each victim.
Rescuer safety:
The Pro IPS also features a group verification mode allowing you to check the proper functioning of the DVAs of the people accompanying you, all while being guided by the device’s instructions. The Bluetooth® mode available on the device can be used to check its proper functioning or in training situations. Furthermore, if no movement from you is detected for a certain period, the Pro IPS assumes a secondary avalanche and automatically switches to SEND mode.
