Ski touring is a demanding sport – getting yourself uphill as well as your skis, boots and rucksack is quite a task! You’ll need waterproof outerlayers to protect you from snow, wind and rain and very breathable underlayers to keep you from overheating and excessive sweat. We recommend stretch fabrics for your base layer and mid layers to give you maximum manoeuvrability while climbing, and a Goretex outer layer for maximum waterproof and breathable protection.
In addition, you'll need breathable socks, waterproof, insulated gloves, a hat and extra mid-layers. The amount of clothes you'll need to wear will probably differ between ascending and descending - at the peak of your route, you'll need a few minutes to take off your skins and to rest after a demanding climb. In this gap you may want to put on another mid layer, some warmer gloves and a hat. The ski down will most likely not be as physically challenging as the ascent, so you will need some extra warm clothes in your bag.
