“Thermo” is the term we generally use for any synthetic insulation. It provides excellent thermal insulation to help the body maintain its temperature and thus minimise energy loss. We use synthetic insulation as an alternative to down because it retains its properties even in wet conditions. While moisture is the weakness of down, synthetic insulation shows its strengths during activities that cause sweating, when exposed to rain or in continuously damp conditions. Synthetic insulation offers a very good warmth-to-weight ratio and is easy to care for. The number following thermo refers to the weight of the insulation used in the product in g/m². Our suppliers for synthetic insulation are PrimaLoft® and Ponneco. |
