First of all, there is a clear and ergonomic interface on an extra-large screen. Questions and directions feature big, clear symbols with 360° directions for searching for victims. The Diract is compact and lightweight. The device weighs only 210g and is 2.3cm thick, so it fits easily into your jacket or trouser pocket. A rubber grip makes it easy to hold and a belt is included to keep the Diract close at hand.

Its is intuitive and simple to use. An on-off button on the back of the A.V.D. is used to switch it on. A front button allows you to mark the victims in search mode but also to switch to a stand-by mode, dedicated to the people managing the call to emergency services during the avalanche search. Finally, the switch between search and transmit mode is clear thanks to a switch that is easy to use, even when wearing gloves.

Finally, to simplify power management, the Diract has a battery specially adapted to cold temperatures and is directly rechargeable from a USB type C cable.
