Approach skis - Unisex -
The Rover are approach skis from Union, designed for backcountry snowboarding.
Like splitboards, the Rover allows you to access the peaks and corridors you want and then snowboard down them.
The Rover is not a snowboard cut in two, but rather a pair of skis. You go up with these boards on your feet and the snowboard on your back. Then, once you're at the top, switch them over. This has several advantages.
First of all, you descend with a real snowboard made of one piece, so the loss of efficiency caused by your splitboard being in two parts is no longer an issue. Also, you can choose the board you will use depending on the topography and snow conditions. Whereas you would usually only have one splitboard for all your outings. Handling is also simplified thanks to the small form factor, without losing contact surface and therefore grip. Finally, the integrated skins make it easy to store in your backpack and allow a quick transition between the Rover and your snowboard.
The Rover is therefore an unexpected but welcome innovation. No longer any need to choose between snowshoes, a splitboard, walking or even touring skis. They are light, not bulky, can be easily attached to your bag and above all they allow you to take your favourite board with you on an adventure.
