Avalanche victim detector -
The Barryvox 2 White from the brand Mammut is an avalanche victim detector (AVD), designed for mountain activities in risky terrain: off-piste, freeride, mountaineering, ski touring. The brand strives to develop AVDs that are increasingly efficient and easy to use, so that every rescue can take place without losing a second.
Performance:
This device has a maximum range of 70 metres. The Barryvox 2 assists you in rescue: the device shows you the distance, the direction to follow, and the number of buried subjects (up to 16). The audio search guidance helps you locate buried persons more easily. Its battery life in SEND mode is 450 hours, and about one hour in SEARCH mode.
Ease of use:
Mammut has redesigned its casing and interface: information is simple to read, the device can be operated with gloves on, and the casing is shock-resistant. The casing is operable with gloves and shock-resistant, while the screen is readable even with polarised glasses or in sunlight. The voice guidance assists you during the use of the AVD, throughout all phases of the search. The wrong direction function prevents you from heading in the opposite direction to the victim(s). The Barryvox 2 manages, reduces, and alerts you to interference. In case of very deep burial, fine search is automatically triggered earlier (3 metres).
Multi-victim mode:
In case of multi-victim burial, the Barryvox 2 offers differentiated marking of victims. This avoids signal conflicts and improves efficiency. The Auto-Select function prevents you from scattering by automatically directing you to the strongest signal.
Carrying system:
The BarryMount pouch in which you can slide your Barryvox 2 is of very good quality. Adjustable and practical, it allows one-handed operation without removing your gloves. It also blocks accidental activation of search mode to increase your safety in the field.
Rescuer safety:
The main button integrates a SafeLock safety feature to prevent any accidental activation of receive mode. The Barryvox 2 also features a DVA Check mode allowing you to verify the proper functioning of the AVDs of the people with you, all while being guided by the device’s instructions. The Barryvox 2 regularly performs automatic self-tests and alerts you to any malfunction. Additionally, if no movement from you is detected for 4 minutes, the Barryvox 2 assumes a secondary avalanche and automatically switches to SEND mode.
