The Barryvox S Package from the Swiss brand Mammut is a pack including a Barryvox S DVA, a Probe 240 probe and an Alugator Ride avalanche shovel.
DVA BARRYVOX S:
The Barryvox S from Mammut is an avalanche transceiver designed for off-piste skiing/ski touring as well as mountaineering.
Mammut has decided to completely revolutionize its high-end avalanche victim detector, the Barryvox S (formerly Pulse). The device's unfailing reliability remains the same, but Mammut has added major improvements in terms of performance and use.
Mammut's key focus for this product is to make it extremely easy to use in order to facilitate rescue, which is always a challenge in an emergency situation.
High-end technologies specific to Barryvox S:
- The Barryvox S integrates Smart Search to facilitate searches by interacting with the rescuer.
- Vital Data technology, thanks to a 3D sensor, allows the rescuer to focus on the buried subjects with the best chances of survival.
- The self-guidance embedded in the Barryvox S will allow you to continue to receive direction information even in the event that the signal is lost.
- SEND rescue mode allows you to switch back to transmit mode in the event of a subsequent avalanche
- The Barryvox S also allows you to select from a list the buried marked or unmarked subjects in order to concentrate your searches.
- This device is customizable: you can change the home screen and your personal information as you wish
- Barryvox S is also compatible with lithium batteries to reduce the risk of loss of autonomy. These are more resistant to extreme temperatures.
Performance:
This device has a large maximum range of 95m, one of the largest on the market, which makes it easier to search for the victim(s) and will allow you to get the first signal very quickly.
A long range will also reduce the distances of a zig-zag search.
The Barryvox S assists you in the rescue: the device shows you the distance, the direction to follow and the number of subjects buried.
Use:
In terms of use, Mammut has reworked the device's casing and interface. This means the information is easier to read, the device can be handled with gloves, the casing is shock-resistant and the research is guided by intuitive acoustics.
To make Mammut's Barryvox even more secure, the main button incorporates SafeLock security to prevent any unintended activation of the reception mode.
Multi-victim mode reworked:
A large proportion of avalanche accidents involve several victims, making the multi-victim option essential.
The Barryvox offers this multi-victim function. The victim marking system allows the person in charge of the rescue to concentrate on one person at a time, filtering the other signals received. This makes it easier to search and avoids signal conflicts. Once the first victim is marked, and while your colleagues are busy probing and taking the first victim out, you can start searching for the second victim and so on.
Carrying system:
The BarryMount envelope in which you attach your Barryvox Mammut is very well made. Adjustable and very practical, it allows handling with only one hand and without removing the gloves. It also blocks the unintentional activation of the search mode to increase your safety in the field.
Other features:
- Avalanche transceiver check mode enables you to check the proper functioning of the devices of the people in your group. Mode with instructions
- Circular field of reception
- W-Link: Additional communication channel for better search performance
- Auto Revert: If no movement is detected for 4 minutes, your avalanche transceiver automatically returns to transmit mode.
Probe 240:
This Mammut probe is simple but effective. The probe has a length of 240cm, is lightweight (240g) and also stable thanks to 6 strong segments.
The probe's storage cover outlines the different steps of a rescue to assist you in case of panic.
ALUGATOR RIDE SHOVEL:
This avalanche shovel features an ergonomic and asymmetrical T-shaped handle combined with a compact blade design for an ideal space-to-performance ratio.
