Your ski bindings are a crucial part of your ski equipment, as they not only attach your ski boots to your skis, but also determine the degree of force required to release the skis in the event of a fall, thus minimising the likelihood of injury. Ski bindings - the different types
Ski bindings for downhill racing, powder bashing, on-piste cruising, freestyle skiing, ski touring, telemarking... Different ski activities require different types of binding: some hold your ski boots at both the toe and heel, while others leave the heel free. Not all types of bindings of ski bindings are compatible with all types of ski boots, particularly Nordic skiing bindings, so check specifications carefully. Choosing and mounting your bindings
When choosing your bindings you’ll also need to take into account factors such as your gender, weight, height, skiing type and style, as all of these will influence the ease with which your bindings release while you’re skiing. The ease of getting out of your bindings when you want to take off your skis for a break, or at the end of the day, should also be considered, as should the weight of the bindings.One final point: when it comes to mounting your bindings on your skis, don’t be tempted to do this yourself, unless you’re a real expert – this is a job for a ski tech!
