At 830 grams (without system), the Ascent 22 Avabag is one of the lightest airbag backpacks on the market. What sets the Airbag system apart is that it is fully removable. This modularity is a great way of turning your backpack into a safety bag.

The ASCENT is a byword for stripping things down to the essentials - that is, SAFETY. Ortovox has developed a light, technical airbag backpack, adapted down to the smallest detail for the new AVABAG system, which is ideal for the longest and most demanding ski tours.
In order to limit the total weight to 1780g (including the cartridge system), Ortovox has used materials that are both light and ultra resistant such as 100D Robic Ripstop Nylon, and removed all non-essential components.

One of the reasons for the ASCENT 22 AVABAG's light weight is the use of materials which are extremely light yet abrasion resistant, such as 100D Robic Ripstop Nylon. This Airbag backpack isn't just light - it's also extremely comfortable. The foamed 3D back system distributes weight evenly between the central belt and the lightly padded shoulder straps. A circular frontal zip that provides quick access to your equipment, as well as a diagonal ski attachment, an ice axe holder and a rope fastening, make this ultra-light Airbag backpack the ideal bag for even the most challenging ski tours.

AVABAG is the world's lightest airbag system!Ortovox has managed to cut its weight down to 640g, thanks to an innovative construction: the fabric is made without stitching or additional waterproofing, and the inflation unit is extremely minimalist.

With a reduced weight and volume of only 1.8 litres, AVABAG is the world's smallest and lightest Airbag system. One other feature of the AVABAG system is the option it gives to practise releases. You can train for deployment without a cartridge in place, as many times as you need, to help you prepare for the worst.

The avabag's handle is designed to be perfectly ergonomic and optimise the trigger mechanism when it's needed. The non-slip handle also offers a 360° shape which allows an easy trigger with all types of glove. 
With adjustable length, the system has been designed to guarantee optimal individual fit.
