Taking inspiration from the old step-in bindings, Burton is once again making history in the evolution of snowboarding with this new generation of Step-On® boots and bindings.
The main difference between strapped and Step On® bindings is that it is the boot which determines which binding/boot pack to get, and no longer the binding. The freeride all-mountain Ion boots ensure perfect instant responsiveness thanks to their rigid flex, ideal for charging and precision when backcountry riding.
The Ion Step On® is a pair of versatile boots that will never let you down on any slope. Thanks to the Boa® version, you can put on your boots even more quickly for a tight fit that doesn't move a muscle.
The extremely lightweight Life liner with the Total Comfort construction will be very comfortable from the very first time you wear them. And because comfort is also about warmth, the Ion Step On® features Sleeping Bag thermal insulation and DRYRIDE Heat Cycle™ lining. Handy when you need to walk in the snow to get to the starting point you've spotted!
The Step On® system enables you to put your bindings on whilst standing, all you have to do is simply step into the connection points on the sides of the feet and behind the spoiler. No need to sit in the cold, wet snow to put on your bindings - and no one will complain about having to wait for you at the ski lifts!
The major advantage of this new system is the responsiveness of the boot-to-board power transfer. Because of the connection points, particularly the hi-back, the boots are literally stuck down from the high-back to the baseplate so shifts from edge to edge have never been so fast.

- The Step On® back reinforcement features a connection point on the heel for a strap-free connection that offers unparalleled comfort and performance.
- The PowerUp Firm Flex 1:1 tongue creates ideal fit between the boot and the tongue, eliminating the need to readjust while riding.
Cushioning:
- The Sleeping Bag isothermal technology underfoot reflects heat back to the foot, improving warmth and comfort in cold conditions.
- The AutoCANT cushioning features dual density EVA that allows your foot to settle into a more natural and relaxed position for increased comfort, reduced fatigue and more direct snowboard control
- The ReBounce is innovative by its close-to-the-foot position, inside the shell of the boot, for extra protection from impacts directly underfoot.
- The Snugger strap allows the rider to adjust heel support and front flex stiffness.
Liner:
- The Tuff cuff increases heel support and hugs the ankle, providing medial and lateral support. It also allows for free flexion from heel to toe.
- The Ultra-Performance Foam® offers excellent thermoforming capability, adapting the boot lining to the shape of your foot.

-The thermoforming Life Liner features lightweight materials to provide premium performance and a relaxed feel. They also have a responsive PU tongue, for a combination of speed and wear resistance which is perfect for long seasons of intense riding.

Comfort:
