The Dakine brand
It was in Hawaii, initially a surprising destination for snowboarding, that the Dakine brand was born in 1979. In reality, the Hawaian brand was initially established within the world of surf (this enables a slightly better understanding of its origins). Excited by the world of sliding sports, its founder Rob Kaplan then exported it to other environments in which people can slide along on an object: still focussing on water, with wind surfing and kitesurfing, on land with skateboarding, but also snow, with snowboarding and skiing.
