The SL Women’s Fit

Shorter back
     On average, women have shorter backs than men. The carrying system for the SL range is thus designed to be shorter than that for the standard Deuter backpacks. That is why this range is also suitable for men that have shorter backs. The straps allow for the load to be shifted closer to the shoulders, in accordance with the female physique.

Narrower straps 
      For a better fit on women’s torsos, the SL shoulder straps are narrower and shorter.
The Soft-Edge technology on both sides, smaller buckles and the very narrow strap ends prevent them from chafing under the armpit or constricting the chest. Similarly, the chest strap adjustment system has been improved as it must be positioned as high up as possible for women.
Taking into account women’s physiques, which are less broad-shouldered than men, the straps are closer together to prevent them from slipping.

Conical hip fins
      To perfectly fit women's hips with their characteristic curve, the hip belt, once fastened, must be a conical shape.
This conical shape is achieved by angling it towards the top of the anchor point and by the curved shape of the SL hip fins. Combined with the narrower base of the hip fins, this provides for a perfect fit. In terms of backpacks with larger volumes, the Pull-Forward attachment system makes closing the belt easier, particularly for women.


Aircontact Pro System

- The Aircontact foam back padding, with its breathable hollow compartment, provides outstanding ventilation. The 3D AirMesh lining across the back padding dissipates heat and humidity.
- The ergonomic shoulder straps are lined with 3D AirMesh and, thanks to their dual-layer manufacturing system, keep their shape even on difficult terrain.
- The load-adjustment straps on the shoulder straps are height-adjustable and enable the pack to be precisely positioned on the back.
- The two aluminium, V-shaped, multi-chambered and ergonomic frames redirect some of the load from the back to the hips.
- The Vari Fit stepless adjustment system, which is tightened centrally, can be adjusted to any back length, ensuring the pack fits the back perfectly.

- The Deuter Vari Flex system is decisive in defining the flexibility of this carrying system. The system’s stepless adjustment to any back length is simple and ensures the pack’s perfect fit on the back. With its mobile hip fins, it follows the most complex of movements in a way that is unmatched. The load is thus evenly distributed across the hips, and the resulting freedom of movement helps to conserve energy. Two sturdy GRP rods and load adjustment straps on the hip cushions ensure precise control over the load. The aluminium frames and the Vari Flex system together form the core of the carrying system, which combines stability with efficient load transfer, perfect load control and incredible flexibility.

When fastened, the tapered, concave fins, which are ultra-padded, perfectly hug the hips of the wearer. Made with multi-layer foam reinforced with polyethylene (PE), it provides uniform load distribution. With its Pull-Forward attachment system, the hip belt is easy to tighten, even under heavy loads.
 

BACK SYSTEMS

Venting system
Good back ventilation behind the pack allows perspiration to evaporate, helping to lower your body temperature. Average heart rate and pressure are lower. The reduction in perspiration therefore increases performance - who would say no to that!
Deuter has developed special systems for different categories of sports that are adapted for their specific individual requirements. They all ensure significant ventilation and a comfortable temperature on the back, even during intense exertion. For the ranges with larger capacities, the pivoting Vari Flex hip fins also provide particularly flexible and energy-efficient carrying comfort.

DEUTER Aircontact Systems
You can carry heavy loads more easily when the backpack and shoulder straps form a unit.
This is the basic principle of the Aircontact system for trekking backpacks: a perfectly stable body contact system with effective load distribution and efficient ventilation. 
A breathable foam construction with hollow chambers that, with each movement, cause a pump effect which activates the Aircontact pads. 

The perfect positioning of the pads creates ventilation channels, thus providing rotating ventilation. The Aircontact and Aircontact Pro lines, with Vari Flex mobile hip fins, ensure particularly flexible and energy-efficient carrying comfort, which is extremely important in the case of heavy loads.
The result: 15% less perspiration than with an ordinary backpack. This has been tested through market research compiled by Gabriel L&T, in collaboration with the University of Erlangen.
