The Ghost Evo Hammer from Grivel is an evolution of the brand's Ghost ice axe, which is one of the lightest available. But the Ghost Evo is designed for technical mountaineering. This version has a hammer rather than an adze.
The Ghost Evo is still ultra light (309 g) with its carbon steel blade hot forged in the Aosta Valley in Italy, as well as a G-Bone handle and a hammer made of lightweight but very powerful aluminium when you hit the ice.
However, the blade is more slanted and notched on this model, and the shaft is more curved but still has a bevelled tip to improve the hold and anchoring of the axe in snow or ice.
This combination of materials offers maximum lightness and durability without compromising the performance of the axe.
This Ghost Evo ice axe is designed for climbers who undertake steeper climbs with more technical features on steeper routes, and who are looking for relatively light equipment for their outings.
