Sea To Summit technologies:
Free-Flow zip system:
This bag features a zip closure designed to ensure maximum heat retention and efficiency as weII as offering multiple ventilation options. The zip closure aIIows you to keep your arms free, offers additional ventilation and makes it possible to fold down the top part of the bag and use as a mini quilt when it is warmer than expected.
Ultra-Dry Down - Sea to Summit has developed a down treatment that makes it:
- highly water repellent
- retain its natural loft
- dry faster
- repel germs and bacteria
- extend the life of your sleeping bag
Loft:
Is the volume for any given down weight. This unit indicates the quality of down, and more specifically its insulating capability. The higher the volume of down for a given weight, the lower the weight of down needed to fill a box. This results in a lighter bag with the same insulating capability.
The most frequently used measure of down quality is fill power. The 650+ down comes from Eastern European geese that are known to offer the best weight-to-heat ratio.
Standard EN 13537:
The perception of cold or heat may differ from person to person or from one manufacturer to another. That's why an international standard has been established to enable consumers and stores to compare products. This standard measures three different sleeping bag temperature ratings:
- Comfort: if you're a woman or someone who is more sensitive to the cold when sleeping, this teIIs you the minimum temperature in which you can expect to sleep comfortably in the bag.
- Lower limit: if you think that your body temperature is quite high when asleep, this teIIs you the minimum temperature in which you can expect to sleep comfortably in the bag.
- Extreme: expect to feel extremely cold at this temperature and risk hypothermia. This refers to an extreme survival situation. We only recommend normal conditions of use.
Responsible Down Standard:
The RDS helps to develop the down and feather industry through more humane farming and animal treatment practices. Supervised by industry leader Textile Exchange, the RDS necessitates independent third party assessments of all aspects of animal farming and treatment throughout the supply chain. By only using down that meets RDS-certified requirements, Sea to Summit can guarantee that each stage of the down collection process is carried out with the well-being and ethical treatment of the geese in mind.
