Famed German ski brand Völkl, famous for their freeride, piste and powder skis, was founded in the late 19th century near Munich in Bavaria. The company originally starting out as a maker of horse-drawn carriages and sledges. But by 1923 Volkl had diversified into the manufacture of skis and ski poles, and over the years into other segments, such as tennis equipment in the 1970s, snowboards in the 1990s, and finally mountain clothing in the 2000s. Nowadays Völkl has grown to become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of both men’s and women’s skis, and the brand enjoys the endorsement of top-level sportspeople.
