About Rab
Rab was founded in 1981 by Rab Carrington, a world-renowned climber and mountaineer. He made his first sleeping bag in his attic, sewing each piece by hand. As demand grew among his peers, Rab eventually began selling his own down products under his name.

How do I know if a down jacket is suitable for wet conditions?
Down loses some of its insulating power when wet. A water-repellent treatment on the outer fabric, found on many Rab models, helps reduce this risk and keeps you warmer for longer in damp weather.
What's the difference between down and synthetic insulation in a down jacket?
Down generally offers a better warmth-to-weight ratio and compresses more easily, which is ideal for hiking or mountaineering. Synthetic insulation, however, retains its performance better when wet.
Can you wash a down jacket at home?
It is possible, but it requires special care: use a down-specific detergent and allow for a long drying time, adding a few tennis balls to the tumble dryer to restore loft and avoid damaging the filling.
