MoEa is a brand that makes trainers out of recycled fruit and plant waste. MoEa decided not to use animal-derived materials, such as leather, so to replace it, the brand uses materials made from plants: bio-materials.
There are 5 materials used: pineapple fibre, apple fibre, cactus leather, grape and corn.
The brand does this for two reasons:
To respect animal life and avoid contributing to animal suffering, we know the intensive farming conditions that feed into the leather industry.
Trainers with a minimal environmental impact: leather is highly-polluting (with the farming of livestock and the chemicals used in the tanning process), whereas bio-materials are animal-free, recycled (they are made from fruit waste, e.g. apples and grapes) and contain little to no plastic. MoEa shoes emmit on average 4kg of CO2 versus 20kg of CO2 for your average trainers.
What's cool about MoEa, is that the colours of the trainers match the fruit. So by choosing the colour of the shoes, customers are also choosing the material that the shoe is made of!
- The red trainers are made of recycled apple,
- The yellow trainers are made of pineapple fibre,
- The green trainers are made of cactus fibre,
- The brown trainers are made of corn,
- The white trainers are made of grape leather.
MoEa is VEGAN-approved by PETA and is a member of WWF's French Company Club.
MoEa talks openly about its environmental impact.
MoEa uses sustainable materials in the creation of the shoes. The shoes' soles are made from recycled rubber, the laces are organic cotton and the lining of the vegan trainers is made from recycled bamboo.
MoEa trainers are recyclable. Simply send your used trainers back to the brand and they will make a new pair from the old ones.
