| B-MESCH |
Made from 100% recycled polyester (polyethylene terephthalate or P.E.T.), b-mesh is a lightweight, breathable and waterproof fabric. It is made entirely from recycled plastic bottles that are made into flakes in Santo André, Brazil, which are then transformed into polyester fibre. A pair of VEJAs requires an average of three plastic bottles. |
| SUEDE |
Suede is the reverse side of a leather that is sanded to give it a soft and supple appearance. It comes from farms in Rio Grande do Sul. It is tanned in Brazil according to REACH standards. The use of water is reasoned during the tanning process. This suede is then coated with two water-repellent oils to protect the trainers from light rain. It is certified by the L.W.G. (Leather Working Group) which promotes sustainable practices that have a positive impact on the environment in tanneries. |
| WILD RUBBER FROM THE AMAZON |
Each sole is made of 40% wild rubber from the Amazon forest. Syringeiros harvest latex from wild rubber trees and are paid according to the principles of fair trade. The use of this Amazon rubber increases the economic value of the forest and protects it from deforestation. |
