C.A.M.P. is an Italian brand founded in 1889 in Premana, in the Lombardy Prealps. The name stands for Costruction of Articles for Mountain Premana. Originally a wrought iron workshop, the company quickly turned to mountain equipment, producing its first ice axes in 1920 for the Italian alpine troops.
The brand has marked several milestones in mountaineering history. The Cerro Torre, the first aluminium ice axe, was a turning point. In the 1980s, the Hummingbird ice axes and Footfang crampons accompanied climbers like Renato Casarotto and Patrick Berhault on major routes. Ever wondered why C.A.M.P. is so often found in the gear of experienced mountaineers? It's this series of innovations that has built the brand's reputation.
At C.A.M.P., every gram counts. Ice axes, crampons, harnesses, carabiners, helmets: the brand consistently designs for the lightest possible weight, without compromising strength or safety. This philosophy runs through the entire range, from mountaineering to climbing and ski touring.
Now led by the fifth generation of the Codega family, C.A.M.P. is present in over 80 countries. Among its ambassadors is Janja Garnbret, double Olympic climbing champion. Established in France since 1988, it remains a benchmark for technical mountain equipment.
