    Detailed description

    Detailed description

After being one of the bestsellers on the all-mountain ski market for several years, the Mantra by Volkl is available this year for the first time with 102mm at the waist.

This new version is based on the construction and characteristics of the Mantra which made the latter so successful. This means the Mantra 102 features carbon tips as well as a MultiLayer Woodcore made of different kinds of wood, but more especially it has a standard ski profile so that it can adapt its power better based on the snow encountered. This makes it an extremely versatile, sporty ski!

The Titanal Frame construction enables Mantra 102s to achieve stunning performance even on difficult snow. Their precision is incredible and always allows you to push the boundaries in total confidence. This construction also gives the skis extra dynamism and accentuates their playful side so it is even more fun when you head away from the marked slopes.

The sandwich construction has straight sidewalls along the entire length of the ski, for flawless edge grip. The Mantra 102 also features the new 3 Radius Sidecut which uses a longer radius on the rocker tip and tail (XTD tip & tail rocker) to improve turn initiation as well as the ski's stability when it picks up speed.

Due to its more generous sidecut, the Mantra 102 feels more at ease in deep snow than the M5, but also performs very well on hard snow. Aggressive and stable at high speeds, this is the ideal ski for experienced skiers who want fun on any terrain!

    Snowleader Review

The Mantra 102 is a wider version of last year's Mantra M5, one of the most popular ski on the market. With an excellent lift in fresh snow as you would expect, its straight sidewalls and titanal construction turn in into an extremely dynamic and stable ski on all types of snow! It is therefore a really high-performance and ultra-versatile ski. Yet another big achievement from the German brand!

    Assets: Efficient, versatile, stable
    Downsides: Quite physically demanding

    Technical Details

    Turn radius:

    - 18.1m for the 170cm size
    - 20.1m for the 177cm size
    - 21.4m for the 184cm size
    - 23.5m for the 190cm size

Weight of pair: 4,080g (without bindings) for the 177cm size

    Core:
Multi Layer Woodcore: A core of compact wood the entire length for more power and energy.

    Rocker:
Tip & Tail Rocker: The skis turn more easily and allow for more rigid adjustments. This means you can choose longer skis if you wish.

    Base:
P-Tex 2100: A high-density polyethylene sintered base with excellent glide characteristics and fantastic durability.

    Technology:

    - Titanal Frame: More shock absorption and stability down the entire length of the ski.
       - Edge power
       - Dampening along the entire length of the ski
       - Lightweight, robust carbon tips

Carbon Tips: Carbon on the tip to make the ski lighter and more dynamic.

    - Full Sidewall: Direct and powerful transfer with straight sidewalls along the entire length.

3 Radius Sidecut : Use of three different radiuses on the tail, the middle of the ski and the tip.

Use of a short radius under the centre of the ski for small turns at medium speed:

    - Very easy turn initiation
    - Agile ski
    - Less exertion and more fluid short turns
    - Long radius on the tip and tail for big turns at high speed:
    - Good behaviour and manoeuvrability
    - Durable and stable tip at high speeds
    - No radius constraint and easily exits turns

These bindings are designed for any intermediate to advanced skier who's looking to push themselves to the limit. Multi-use, they stand out thanks to their power and stability on both soft powder and hard snow.

Their Triple Pivot Compact 2 and Intelligent Backward Release systems cater for the different forces the bindings need to endure. The M 11.0 TP will release if you fall, but will stay in place during hard power transfers.

As with all the brand's bindings, they feature AFD (Anti Friction Device) technology for a reliable, precise release. What's more, the TCX heel support makes them really easy to put on and take off. The M 11.0 TP  bindings are also compatible with GripWalk soles.

    Pack Mantra 102 2020 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7.
