Detailed description
The Burton Instigator is an all-mountain snowboard for beginner to intermediate riders. Get the best possible snowboard experience from the start with the Burton Instigator and skip the long, boring group lessons! With the Instigator you can confidently head off into those first turns on your snowboard.
The Flat Top™ camber will forgive the odd caught edge and let you focus on every turn you go into. The Instigator is designed for you to improve with ease and lets you build your confidence as you learn to snowboard in stages. The directional shape is forgiving in nature and manoeuvrability is excellent.
With the incredibly accessible Instigator you'll make great progress on all sorts of terrains. The camber will get you off the slopes and make powder look easy. Take the Instigator to the snowpark and conquer your first jumps with ease.
It's a more comprehensive design than the Ripcord and more accessible than the Descendant. The Instigator will serve beginner to intermediate level riders well as they progress over several winters.
The Burton Instigator is a tolerant snowboard that forgives small mistakes when learning the ropes. Its flat camber gives it good on-piste stability and lets it float in powder thanks to its nose and tail rockers.
The Instigator's base is strong and durable and can withstand slightly more uncertain conditions! Very easy to handle, the Burton Instigator lets you ride with ease without your legs getting too tired.
The Pros: accessibility and room for improvement.
The Cons: more adapted to downhill than freestyle
Camber - Flat Top: a flat profile between the bindings increases stability, improves balance and provides constant edge control. The Early Rise on the nose and tail provide a smooth ride and minimise snagging.
Shape - Directional (5mm taper): classic shape with the nose slightly longer than the tail for float on unpacked snow. Tapered refers to a shape in which the nose is wider than the tail, making it easier to enter and exit turns, allowing for greater stability at high speeds, and improved float.
Flex - 2/10 - Twin: symmetrical ultra soft flex from tip to tail for a balanced ride whether you're riding normal or switch.
Core - FSC™ Certified Super Fly II™ 800G Core with Dualzone™ EGD™ and Squeezebox Low: resistant, pop loaded light wooden core. Core made with dual-species, dual-density wood. Wood from sustainably managed forests! Dualzone™ EGD™ is a type of core construction which involves positioning wood fibres on the bindings and middle of the board perpendicular to the rest of the wood core.
The Squeezebox Low construction involves thickening the board's profile around the binding inserts and and refining it between bindings and at the nose and tail to improve energy transfer. More control, less effort.
Fiberglass - Biax™ : Versatile flex and response whatever the situation.
Base - Extruded: speed and strength in a low maintenance base.
Technology:
- The Channel®: Burton's own mounting system which makes it quick and easy to change stance and binding angles.
- Cruise Control Tune: grow in confidence with ultra soft flex and a less aggressive finish which minimises snagging. The nose is completely convex which means it is nice and steady whatever the terrain.
- Super Sap® Epoxy : tough topsheet..
- Pro-Tip™: the nose and tail are thinner than the rest of the board to increase weight and improve handling.
